Meebo Download

Postby imneveral0ne on Sun Nov 12, 2006 4:18 am

Is there ever gonna be a program I can download to chat on meebo? Because I'm using the meebo me widget on my myspace page, but it would be easier to talk to the people on there if i had a program i could download :)

That was the only thing that made me stop using the meebo widget as well - inability to use my own program (which I actually want on my desktop, since my IM client has many more features and is ultimately customizable). However, I'm not sure that they will ever offer anything like this for download since it sort of defeats the purpose of meebo. Which is to have a readliy-available IM client that can be accessed from most any browser and computer. Making a downloadable client would be like making a downloadable version of Writely, or Gmail. Wouldn't really make any sense.

As erissiva states, there are no plans to create a downloadable version of meebo. Is there anything in particular that we could add to meebo to make it easier to chat with people on your myspace page?

The only thing that could make it easier to chat with people on the myspace page would be to make a downloadable version of meebo. This would make it so that there was always a connection that is connected to the meebo server instead of having a webpage do it. Right now, you have to open up an IE window, go to the web page, and log on. Then on top of that you always have to make sure that the window never gets closed (that sucks with family computers). If there was a standalone version, you could have all the conversations in different windows instead of different widgets in the same window.

The developers might want to take a look at this tool:

http://www.bambalam.se/bamcompile/

It only works with php script, but that is still pretty cool!

yes, checked the page and it really does work with it( the mirnada thing)

while it is not going to be a replacement for meebo( no downloads, use anywhere)

it certainly is worth giving a shot.
